Manon’s inner turmoil and struggle for survival lie at the devastating heart of Kenneth MacMillan’s 1974 adaptation of Abbé Prévost’s novel. In this signature work of The Royal Ballet, MacMillan’s nuanced understanding of human psychology makes for an unflinching look into the moral degradation of Manon’s Paris, while all its decadence and decay are brought to life through Jules Massenet’s score and Nicholas Georgiadis’s designs.

WELSH FILM FESTIVAL - CELEBRATING 130 YEARS OF FILMMAKING IN WALES

Bryn Cartwright is a local kingpin who rules the roost until handyman Fatty Lewis, falls off a ladder on a Cartwright job. Fatty’s twin junkie grandsons, Julian and Jeremy attempt to procure compensation from Cartwright, who refuses to pay up. The doped-up Julian and Jeremy then proceed to inflict anarchy on anyone they encounter whilst local policemen, Terry and Greyo, employ their own dubious peacekeeping methods as events spiral out of control.

The film follows a Live Q&A by Director Kevin Allen.

Celebrating 130 years of filmmaking in Wales, the festival will bring together films, filmmakers and audiences for a very special weekend in our cinema.
