ABERJAZZ 2026

Coltrane Dedication is a Welsh jazz collective devoted to the emotional power and fearless improvisation of John Coltrane’s later music. Formed when five musicians realised they were due to play together on the 40th anniversary of Coltrane’s death, the group committed to exploring his catalogue with intensity, freedom and deep respect.

They don’t perform tributes — they channel the visceral spirit, fire and forward‑driving creativity of Coltrane’s 1960–67 period, using his compositions as a springboard for their own passionate, contemporary improvisation. Their performances are known for raw energy, meditative depth and a commitment to keeping this extraordinary music alive in the present moment.

This quietly radical debut feature film is a beautifully constructed romantic drama : a meditation on tackling grief and falling in love. Shot in the village where Kanawade’s mother was raised, it was partly inspired by his own experience.

The film won the World Cinema Grand Prize at Sundance Film Festival.
