Moscow Drug Club is a unique and intoxicating musical ensemble where Berlin cabaret, Hot Club de France, tango, gypsy jazz, French musette, Latin grooves and New Orleans swing meet and mingle. Their sound blends original material with songs by Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Eartha Kitt and Bertolt Brecht, creating a rich, theatrical atmosphere that feels both vintage and vividly alive.

Fronted by the charismatic Katya Gorrie, the band delivers performances described as evocative, wry, intimate and wonderfully entertaining. Katya’s background in theatre, dance and classical and jazz vocals gives her a striking stage presence; she has toured widely across North America, Europe and the UK and has recorded multiple albums.

Jonny Bruce, a Bristol‑based trumpeter known for his fiery, virtuosic playing, has performed internationally with artists across jazz, funk and soul, and is Musical Director of the Bristol Community Big Band. His trumpet has also featured on the BBC drama The Outlaws.

Mirek Salmon, an accomplished bandoneonist, accordionist and pianist, has performed with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and composes for television and theatre.

Andy Crowdy, bassist, composer and multi‑instrumentalist, brings both rhythmic drive and flashes of virtuosity, drawing on a career that includes work with leading UK jazz artists.

Will Edmunds, guitarist and singer, adds swing, warmth and versatility, with a background spanning jazz, blues, country and extensive touring.

Together, they create what reviewers have called a “heady and waggish mix” and an “intimate musical experience you won’t soon forget” — a darkly comic, stylish and immersive world where storytelling and musicianship intertwine.

Mae Moscow Drug Club yn ensemble cerddorol unigryw a meddwol lle mae cabaret Berlin, Hot Club de France, tango, jazz sipsi, musette Ffrengig, grooves Lladin a swing New Orleans yn cwrdd ac yn cymysgu. Mae eu sain yn cyfuno deunydd gwreiddiol â chaneuon gan Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Eartha Kitt a Bertolt Brecht, gan greu awyrgylch cyfoethog, theatrig sy'n teimlo'n hen ffasiwn ac yn fywiog iawn.

O dan arweiniad y carismatig Katya Gorrie, mae'r band yn cyflwyno perfformiadau a ddisgrifir fel rhai atgofus, chwerw, agos atoch ac adloniant rhyfeddol. Mae cefndir Katya mewn theatr, dawns a lleisiau clasurol a jazz yn rhoi presenoldeb llwyfan trawiadol iddi; mae hi wedi teithio'n eang ledled Gogledd America, Ewrop a'r DU ac wedi recordio sawl albwm.

Mae Jonny Bruce, trwmpedwr o Fryste sy'n adnabyddus am ei chwarae tanbaid, meistrolgar, wedi perfformio'n rhyngwladol gydag artistiaid ar draws jazz, ffync a soul, ac mae'n Gyfarwyddwr Cerdd Band Mawr Cymunedol Bryste. Mae ei drwmped hefyd wedi ymddangos ar y ddrama BBC The Outlaws.

Mae Mirek Salmon, bandoneonydd, acordionydd a phianydd dawnus, wedi perfformio gyda Cherddorfa Genedlaethol Cymru'r BBC, Opera Cenedlaethol Cymru a Chwmni Brenhinol Shakespeare, ac mae'n cyfansoddi ar gyfer y teledu a'r theatr.

Mae Andy Crowdy, basydd, cyfansoddwr ac aml-offerynnwr, yn dod â gyrru rhythmig a fflachiadau o feistrolaeth, gan dynnu ar yrfa sy'n cynnwys gwaith gydag artistiaid jazz blaenllaw yn y DU.

Mae Will Edmunds, gitarydd a chanwr, yn ychwanegu swing, cynhesrwydd ac amryddawnrwydd, gyda chefndir sy'n cwmpasu jazz, blues, gwlad a theithio helaeth.

Gyda'i gilydd, maent yn creu'r hyn y mae adolygwyr wedi'i alw'n "gymysgedd meddwol a waggaidd" a "phrofiad cerddorol agos atoch na fyddwch yn ei anghofio'n fuan" - byd tywyll, comig, chwaethus a throchol lle mae adrodd straeon a cherddoriaeth yn cydblethu.

EIN HANES

THE LAST INVASION: WAR, WOMEN AND MEMORY 1797-1997

Speaker: Hywel M. Davies

The ‘Fishguard Invasion’ was a serious event, men were killed on both sides and women were raped. Almost immediately, stories of women in red livery appeared and acts of individual heroism would be associated above all with Jemima Nicholas.

The telling and retelling of the story peaked at times of fear of invasion and war. Resilient to public doubt and professional scorn the ‘legend’ of the women survived as popular ‘myth’ if not as history.

The talk will investigate the event, how it was recorded, depicted over time, and its lasting impact.

Roedd ‘Glaniad y Ffrancod’ yn ddigwyddiad difrifol, lladdwyd dynion ar y ddwy ochr a threisiwyd menywod. Bron yn syth ymddangosodd straeon am fenywod mewn lifrai coch a chysylltwyd gweithredoedd o arwriaeth unigol â Jemima Nicholas.

Bu adrodd ac ailadrodd y stori ar adegau o ofn goresgyniad a rhyfel. Er gwaethaf amheuaeth gyhoeddus a dirmyg proffesiynol, goroesodd ‘chwedl’ y menywod fel ‘myth’ poblogaidd os nad fel hanes.

Bydd y sgwrs yn ymchwilio i’r digwyddiad, sut y cafodd ei gofnodi, ei bortreadu dros amser, a’i effaith barhaol.

A pre-festival event for this year's 'Moby Dick' themed On Land's Edge / Ar Ymyl Y Tir, with a collaboration between Theatr Gwaun and Sea Trust Wales.

Presented by Sea Trust Wales with speakers Cliff Benson and Nadia Tomsa.

Cliff Benson and Nadia Tomsa look into the history of commercial whaling. They also discuss the ethics and sustainability of wildlife tourism and conservation activity, chasing whales with cameras rather than harpoons!

A hundred years elapsed between Herman Melville writing his novel and Hollywood’s John Huston, making his 1954 film “Moby Dick” in Fishguard.

Whaling had evolved from the whalers of Nantucket, whose sailing whaleships scoured the oceans, to becoming a mechanised industry. Our illustrated presentation looks at some of the bizarre aspects of whaling and its ultimate decline because of its unsustainability and a global shift in opinion.

We then look at how Sea Trust’s work over twenty-five years has recorded whales in Wales, and our collective responsibility for their protection.

Digwyddiad cyn Gŵyl Ar Ymyl y Tir / On Land's Edge, sydd â thema 'Moby Dick' eleni, gyda chydweithrediad rhwng Theatr Gwaun ac Ymddiriedolaeth y Môr Cymru.

Mae Cliff Benson a Nadia Tomsa yn edrych ar hanes hela morfilod masnachol. Maent hefyd yn trafod moeseg a chynaliadwyedd twristiaeth bywyd gwyllt a gweithgarwch cadwraeth, gan fynd ar ôl morfilod â chamerâu yn hytrach na harpŵns!

Aeth can mlynedd heibio ers i Herman Melville ysgrifennu ei nofel. Daeth John Huston o Hollywood, i wneud ffilm "Moby Dick" ym 1954 yn Abergwaun.

Esblygodd hela morfilod o wreiddiau helwyr Nantucket yn eu llongau ar y cefnforoedd, i ddod yn ddiwydiant mecanyddol. Mae ein cyflwyniad darluniadol yn edrych ar rai o agweddau rhyfedd hela morfilod a'i ddirywiad oherwydd ei anghynaliadwyedd a newid barn byd-eang.

Yna, rydym yn edrych ar sut mae gwaith Sea Trust dros bum mlynedd ar hugain wedi cofnodi morfilod yng Nghymru, a'n cyfrifoldeb ar y cyd dros eu gwarchodaeth.

Mae tad a'i fab yn chwilio am Mar — merch a chwaer — a ddiflannodd fisoedd yn ôl mewn rave yn anialwch Moroco. Gan Christopher Hampton

Yn seiliedig ar y nofel gan Pierre Choderlos de Laclos

Cyfarwyddwr: Marianne Elliott

Mae Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread), enillydd Gwobr BAFTA, yn ymuno ag Aidan Turner (Rivals) mewn llwyfaniad newydd trawiadol o addasiad enwog Christopher Hampton o'r nofel glasurol hon. Ynddi, gall un camgymeriad, ymhlith salonau disglair y dosbarth uchaf, olygu dinistr.

Mae Marquise de Merteuil yn feistr yn y gelfyddyd o oroesi. Ochr yn ochr â'r Vicomte de Valmont magnetig, mae’n troi hudo yn strategaeth ac yn creu arf o chwant. Ond pan fydd cynghrair y ddau yn chwalu, ac mae'r frwydr rhyngddynt yn bygwth dinistrio pawb yn eu llwybr.

Wedi'i ffilmio'n fyw ar lwyfan yn y Theatr Genedlaethol, mae Marianne Elliott (Angels in America) yn cyfarwyddo'r gêm gyffrous hon o gariad, celwyddau a rhyfel cymdeithasol.
